Please call me Sara. I’ve been a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for 24 years. My Master’s is in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA (1987).

I work with adults, couples and adolescents. My specialty is counseling adult survivors of childhood sexual and physical abuse. In the course of a general practice, as mine is, I also see many clients experiencing depression, anxiety and relationship issues. Often these manifest in major life transitions.
I do a lot with mindfulness and relaxation techniques. I also find Gestalt and Psychosynthesis helpful.
My home is my office and I sometimes use my cats as co-therapists. The dogs are a bit too big for my counseling room and are crated when clients are here.
When I’m not working, I write or play with my 100-year old house, the animals, sing, read or do yard work.
This is my second career. The first 20 years of my working life were spent as a reporter.
I accept most major insurances: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Health Care, Neighborhood Health and all the Rite Cares.
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have outpatient mental health benefits?
- Do I have a deductible and if so, has it been met?
- Do I have a copay and if so, how much per session?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
- Is pre-authorization required?
If you are without insurance, my full fee is $100.-; $125.- for couples. Intake (first session) is $150.- I do sometimes accept sliding scale.
I accept checks or cash. I’m not equipped to accept credit or bank cards.
HOURS:
All sessions are 50 minutes.
My practice is part-time. I see clients Tuesday from 11 to 8 pm (last appointment at 7) and Friday from 2 to 6 pm (last appointment at 5).
